Instant Page Loading with Hyvä + Magento

How Hyvä's x-defer directives and the Speculation Rules API enable instant page loading on Magento. Real-world performance gains.

Instant Page Loading with Hyvä + Magento

Instant page loading with Hyvä + Magento delivers impressive results!

During a major Magento + Hyvä update for one of our clients in March/April, performance indicators fluctuated significantly during the transition period. The Hyvä team quickly released version 1.3.7, integrating essential features to improve performance.

The New x-defer Directives

These directives significantly reduce render-blocking delays during page load. By deferring non-critical resources, the browser can paint the page faster and deliver a snappier experience to visitors.

The Speculation Rules API

This API allows the browser to identify pages to preload. The resulting loading is instant and provides remarkable fluidity in navigation. When a user hovers over a link, the browser begins fetching and rendering that page in the background - so when they click, it appears immediately.

Hyvä’s Implementation

Hyvä offers a particularly smart approach. By enabling Magento sites to use this API without additional development, the rule activates on product hover in a grid. The subsequent click delivers instant page loading.

Hyvä also offers the ability to use the API in a more granular way, notably by preloading pages that correspond to a pre-analyzed customer journey.

The “Smart Speculation Rules for Magento 2” module by JaJuMa GmbH is particularly noteworthy. It creates intelligent rules based on customer journeys analyzed via Matomo or Google Analytics.

Conclusion

A big thank you to the Hyvä teams for their responsiveness and intelligence in evaluating and implementing these techniques. Thanks to them, we can deliver exceptional performance to our clients!
